At Northaven we strive to provide you with many events to choose from to fill your day. Weekly discussion groups, guest presentations and interest groups are arranged by the service coordinators. Monthly Bingo evenings are hosted by Resident Council. Guest entertainers perform musical or literary programs multiple evenings a month. You will also find special interest classes scheduled throughout the year, such as Seniors Making Art, pioneered by Dale Chihuly, AARP Safe Driving, Special Cooking Techniques and more. Join us aboard the Northaven bus. Outings include monthly sight-seeing tours of Seattle area neighborhoods, visits to movie theaters to see the latest films or trips to museums, casinos, plays and concerts. Special trips are planned on an annual basis such overnight trips to Victoria or the Colombia Gorge.
Weekly grocery shopping and monthly Out-to-Lunch and mall trips are planned.
Start your morning with an energizing fitness class taught by our certified fitness instructor. A range of classes are available from a light seated workout to more intense full body workouts.
Keep in shape on your own schedule with exercise equipment available in our 24 hour fitness center. Tread mills, exercise bikes and weight machines are among the many machines available for your use.
Whether you have a green thumb or just enjoy the serenity a garden has to offer, you will be pleasantly surprised by the beautifully maintained grounds surrounding Northaven. Dedicated volunteers and Northaven staff take care to plant a delightful assortment of flowers and care for the variety of trees and greenery. Enjoy lunch in the gazebo or on a garden swing. Sip coffee with a friend on the rose garden patio. Each spring, residents have the option of caring for a garden barrel supplied by Northaven. Many enjoy cultivating their own summer tomatoes, strawberries, herbs, flowers and other fresh produce.
For the avid reader, Northaven offers an in house library. Complete with large-print and small text best-sellers and classics. Stop by to work on the ongoing puzzle or find a spot to read your own book. Windows looking out to the rose garden and elegant chairs complete the quiet atmosphere.
The Seattle Public Library also visits monthly in their bookmobile. This traveling library bus offers a wide selection onboard. Residents may also request books online or when the bookmobile is here that will be delivered when the bookmobile next visits.
