Since 1972, Northaven, a non-profit resident community in north Seattle, has been dedicated to serving the older adults in our community by providing affordable housing and compassionate care in a healthful, life-giving environment. Seattle’s increasing need for affordable senior housing has resulted in consistent demand for Northaven’s 194 high-quality independent living apartments. Residents pay no more than 30% of their monthly adjusted income, up to our very low market rate, well below that of comparable retirement communities of the greater Seattle area. The income limit for a single person is $45,000, and for couples $52,000. In 1992, Northaven opened our 40-unit assisted living building for people who need assistance with daily living activities such as meals, medication, housekeeping and help with personal care. The Northaven Foundation was established in 1994 to help ensure the continuation of our mission through fund development activity. Learn more about how Northaven makes a difference in Seattle in our Case Statement.
On October 28, 2009, Northgate Chamber of Commerce awarded Northaven the Business Excellence Award. Northaven received the award for the not-for-profit category in recognition of solid business practices, active and effective boards, and demonstrated service to the community.
